Inspired by DrumLogic and DrumNow!, curricula developed by arts educator Gretchen Elise, 4th grade students will make their own drums, decorating with Adinkra symbols and other original designs. Drums will be made with recycled cardboard tubes, sourced from PaperSource on Tioga St. in Philadelphia, and goatskins from Hydecrafter Leathercrafters, TX. 60 fourth grade - aged drum-makers will make drums in 3 sessions and also receive instruction from professional drummer Karen Smith, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between April 21st and May 21st Spring Arts Festival at Powel Elementary
